ADUST has a ‘Resource Library’ for all. Books, magazines and all other reading materials of the ADUST Library are available for its members’ uses.
Time Table of the Library
The ADUST Library remains open for the readers from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm every day, except holidays.
Using the Library
All students, faculty members and members of the administration of ADUST can use the library. The following rules should be observed while using the library:
- The user should carry his or her ID Card.
- He or she should switch off the mobile phone, if there’s any.
- Personal books, bags and food are not allowed inside the library.
Library Card
A borrower needs a library card to borrow any books or reading materials from the Library. To obtain a library card one should apply by filling out a specified form.
Validity of Library Card
For all students the Library Card shall remain valid for 01 (one) academic year. At the end of each year a student should renew his or her library Card. However, the faculty members and administrative officials of ADUST need not renew their cards.
Issuing of Books or Reading Materials
Each student can borrow up to a maximum of 2 books/ reading materials in a week. All Faculty Members can borrow 4 (four) books at a time for 120 (one twenty) days and all officials also can borrow 2 (two) books for 30 (thirty) days.
Late Fee
If a borrower fails to return the books or reading materials issued to him within the specified time, a fine of Tk.5/= (five) will be charged for each day. New books and reading materials will not be issued until the borrower returns the previously issued books/ reading materials and pays the late fine. The late fine will never exceed the approximate present price of the books or the materials (applicable at the time).
Lost or Damaged Books
The borrower is fully responsible for the maintenance of issued books and reading materials. In this regard if any issued books or reading materials are either lost or damaged then fine will be charged at the following rates:
- A maximum of twice the purchase value for local books and reading materials
- A maximum of three times of the purchase value for foreign texts and books.
- A maximum of four times of the purchase value for rare books and reading materials.
- If the book or reading material is a part of any series or collection, then the price of the entire collection might be payable depending on circumstance.
Tearing pages or willful Damage
If anybody is found in the act of tearing pages from books or other reading materials or prove guilty of destroying any of these that belong to the Library either secretly and/or willfully, he will face disciplinary action which in the case of a student will involve a maximum punishment of expulsion from the university. In the event of accidental damage caused by anybody and any kind of damage or disfigurement caused by a non student member the management will determine the compensation.
Clearance
A student must obtain clearance from the library prior to receiving his/ her course completion certificates or in the event of separation from the University by returning all books and reading materials issued against him. He/ She should also surrender the Library Card at that time. Failure to do so will result in a penalty of Tk. 100/= (one hundred).
